Our Mission
The Mission of Macedonia Baptist Church is to glorify God, to know Christ, and to make Christ known through nurturing the body, ministering to the needs of its members, and evangelizing the lost through our missions.
We believe, Proverbs 16:4 “The Lord has made all things for Himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.” (KJV)

Under the leadership of our pastor, Rev. John A. Russ, we are a mission oriented church teaching and learning God’s word with a strong sense of family, connectedness, and community.
At Macedonia we practice spirituality and celebrate our faithfulness as we have done since we were founded. We are a mission oriented congregation with a strong sense of family, connectedness, and community.
This means treating people with respect, and agape, self-giving love, involving our members in planning and problem solving as well as doing, insisting on collaboration in our planning, sharing responsibilities, communicating with one another, affirming and recognizing members for their work, teaching and learning using God's word, and engaging our community in ministry and mission. We are there to help others, those who don’t know the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and can be touched by it in word and deed.

Worship Service
"The hour is coming and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:22-24) At Macedonia, we are committed to worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth. We believe True worship is God directed and God centered. Worship allows us to draw close to a Holy God, Who alone is worthy of all our praise and adoration. Therefore, we invite you to “come worship” with us.
Bible Study
At Macedonia, we are committed to the diligent study and presentation of God’s Word. We profess the Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice. “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (II Timothy 2:15)
Community Service
In Loving Memory (1938 - 2022)
Rev. John A. Russ
On February 2, 1938, Rev. John A. Russ was born to the late Rev. Moses and Lillie Russ in Romeville, La. At the tender age of eight years old, Rev. Russ was baptized by his father, at The Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. His educational foundation stems from the following: McCormick School of Music, Lutcher, LA, where he began his musical training at the age of twelve, Cypress Grove High School, Lutcher, LA, Delgado Junior College, and Strait Business School, New Orleans, LA. He has also studied and spent many hours learning Baptist and Full Gospel Principles.
The Lord moved Rev. Russ to a higher calling. Rev. Russ was elected pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church June 1998, and installed July 1998.
The Macedonia Family are proud of their “Bible Preacher and Teacher” and blessed to have a leader who is articulate, compassionate, intelligent, sincere, and faithful; and above all, a Christian.
